About us

Who
WE ARE
Bubune Africa provides sustainable shea solutions. We work with 690 women in Tamale to process unrefined ivory and yellow shea butter for export and local consumption.
Our retail business transforms unrefined shea butter into value-added products like shea body lotion, body butter, and bar soaps. We are guided by the knowledge that the skin being the largest organ absorbs everything we apply on it, thus extra consideration must be given to what is put on it.
How it
began
It all started in Germany where I had gone for further studies. My already sensitive skin reacted to the weather and clothing. None of the topical creams prescribed by the general physician and dermatologist worked.

Luckily, I met someone who introduced me to moringa powder, which was soothing because of its anti-inflammatory qualities. I switched to natural skincare products like moringa shampoo, black soap gel and bar, shea butter, and moringa oil, and I have not had cause to look back since.

When I decided to move back to Ghana, I started researching how to formulate the products that had been so helpful to me. My search took me to a school in the UK, where I gained further knowledge in the principles and practice of natural skincare formulation. Since I took that course in 2019, I have been formulating amazing skin and haircare products for customers in Ghana and the rest of the world.
social change and women empowerment
our passion
On March 23, 2024, Victoria Afua Agbai, CEO of Bubune Africa, led a special training session for women inmates at Nsawam Prison. She taught them how to make soap. Victoria believes that everyone deserves a chance to learn new skills, no matter where they are. She wanted to help these women feel good about themselves and learn something useful for when they leave prison.

During the training, Victoria showed the women how to make soap step by step. She also talked to them about believing in themselves and setting goals for the future.

Victoria's passion for social change and her dedication to the empowerment of marginalized women shone through as she interacted with the participants, offering encouragement and support every step of the way. Through her leadership, the soap-making training not only equipped women inmates with valuable skills but also instilled a sense of hope and possibility for their future.

The impact of Bubune Africa's initiative extends far beyond the prison walls. By offering a pathway to economic independence, she not only empowers individual women but also contributes to the reduction of recidivism rates and the promotion of social cohesion. Through partnerships with local organizations and businesses, she facilitates the marketing and distribution of the products, creating opportunities for sustainable income generation.
